Notary fees in Israel are not negotiable. They are fixed by the Notaries (Service Fees) Regulations, 5739-1978, adjusted on 1 January each year, and every notary in Israel charges exactly the same fee for the same notarial act. Related legal services, such as drafting the document, are not part of the notary fee. In the calculator on this page you choose a service, answer a few questions, and receive a full breakdown of every component: the fee before VAT, the VAT, and the total payable.
Every notarial service in one place
A notary is an advocate of long standing who has been licensed by the Minister of Justice to authenticate, certify and draw up legal documents. A notarial certificate carries special evidential weight: authorities and courts in Israel and abroad accept it as evidence of the facts it states, without further proof.
Certified Translation

Certified Translation
A certified notarial translation, or by its precise name a certification of the correctness of a translation, is required for almost every Israeli document submitted to a body abroad, and for every foreign document submitted to an authority in Israel. Common documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates, Population Registry extracts, police clearance certificates, matriculation certificates, academic transcripts, driving licences and vehicle registration documents, and company documents. The office also translates professional documents in engineering, technical or medical language.
The translation can be obtained online from anywhere in Israel: send a scan by WhatsApp, receive a word count, the exact fee under the regulations and a delivery date, and the signed certificate is sent back to you. There is no need to come to the office and no need for personal identification, because the notary certifies the correctness of the text, not a signature.

Notarial will
A notarial will is a will made before an authority under section 22 of the Succession Law, 5725-1965, and for this purpose a notary has the same standing as a judge. It is signed before the notary with no need for witnesses, and it is prima facie evidence that the testator made it on the date and at the place stated in it. The office drafts the will and certifies it, or certifies a text prepared in advance, and at the testator's request also deposits it with the Registrar of Inheritance.
Prenuptial agreement
A notary may authenticate a property agreement made before the marriage, under section 2(c1) of the Spouses (Property Relations) Law, 5733-1973, provided that he is satisfied that both spouses made it of their own free will and understand its meaning. The office drafts the agreement and authenticates it, or authenticates a text prepared in advance. An agreement signed after the marriage requires the approval of the Family Court or of a religious court.
Frequently asked questions about notary services
Can I obtain a notary service without coming to the office?
For a certified translation, yes: send a scan by WhatsApp or through the form, receive a quotation based on the word count, and the signed certificate is sent back to you. Services in which the notary certifies a signature or identity, such as authentication of a signature, a power of attorney, a will, a prenuptial agreement or a life certificate, require you to appear in person before the notary.
How much does a notary cost?
The notary fee is fixed by the Notaries (Service Fees) Regulations and is the same at every notary in Israel. The 2026 notary fee schedule sets out the full tariff, with a calculator that shows in advance what each service will cost.
Which documents do you translate?
Every type of document, from Hebrew into English and from English into Hebrew: birth, marriage and educational certificates, police clearance certificates, driving licences and vehicle registration documents, bank and company documents, judgments and agreements, as well as professional texts in engineering, technical or medical language. Details on the certified translation page.
Can you also draft the will or the prenuptial agreement?
Yes. Amos Ilan is also an advocate, so the will or the prenuptial agreement can be drafted at the office, not merely a ready-made text certified. The notary fee for the certification is fixed by regulation; drafting the document is legal work, priced separately.
When can a notary certify a prenuptial agreement?
Under section 2 of the Spouses (Property Relations) Law, a notary may authenticate a property agreement made before the marriage. An agreement signed after the marriage, or an amendment to an agreement after the marriage, requires the approval of the Family Court or of a religious court.
Do you also issue life certificates?
Yes. A life certificate is issued at a single meeting, in the presence of the person concerned and against a valid identity document. Please bring the form sent by the requesting body, if there is one.
Need an apostille?
That depends on the destination country and on the body requesting the document, so please confirm it with them. If one is required, the office also handles the apostille. A full explanation is on the apostille page.
What should I bring to the notary?
A valid identity document (an Israeli identity card or a passport) and the document itself. Do not sign in advance a document on which the notary is to authenticate your signature: the signature is made in the presence of the notary.
