In the video: Notary fees are fixed by regulation and are not negotiable, and every notary in Israel charges the same fee for the same notarial act. Related legal services, such as drafting the document, are not part of the notary fee. The tariff is adjusted on 1 January each year in line with the index, and VAT is added to every amount. Service between 19:00 and 08:00 or on a day of rest carries a 50% surcharge, and service outside the office is charged by the hour, plus travel expenses.

Notary fees in Israel are not negotiable. They are fixed by the Notaries (Service Fees) Regulations, 5739-1978, and every notary in Israel charges exactly the same fee for the same notarial act. Related legal services, such as drafting the document, are not part of the notary fee. The difference between one notary and another therefore lies not in the price but in availability, speed and the quality of the work.
This page brings together the complete notary tariff for 2026: the fees for authenticating a signature, certifying a translation, certifying a true copy, a will, an affidavit, a prenuptial agreement and every other service, at the rates updated for this year.
Three points to note before reading the tables:
1. VAT is added to every amount.
2. The amounts are adjusted on 1 January each year in line with the rise in the Consumer Price Index, under regulation 4 of the Regulations. The tariff below shows the amounts as updated for 2026.
3. The official and binding source is the text of the regulations as published in the Official Gazette (Reshumot) and on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
Notary fee calculator for every service
The tables below set out the tariff as worded in the regulations, but the practical question is usually a different one: how much will it cost in my particular case? Two signatories or three, whether an additional copy is needed, whether the notary is also translating the document, and what happens when the service is provided outside the office or after office hours.
The calculator above answers exactly that. Choose a service, answer a few short questions, and receive a full breakdown of every component of the fee: the amount before VAT, the VAT and the total payable. It covers every notarial service in the regulations, including the 50% surcharge for service outside normal hours and on days of rest, the hourly fee for service outside the office, and the surcharge for drawing up a certificate in a foreign language.
A table on its own leaves open the question of what you will actually pay. Here you get the figure before you even pick up the phone.

The fee for service outside the office is added to the fee for the service itself, and travel expenses are added on top. It is charged once per visit, not separately for each act. If the notary has travelled and the act is ultimately not performed for reasons beyond his control, he is entitled to the hourly fee and to travel expenses.
When the fee may be waived
The regulations allow a notary to waive all or part of the fee in three cases: where he is satisfied that the applicant lacks means; where the service is provided to a new immigrant or a returning resident who has presented confirmation from the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration; and where the service was required because of the notary's own error. In addition, a copy made in fulfilment of a legal duty, rather than as a service to the client, does not attract an additional fee.
Frequently asked questions
Why do all notaries charge the same fee?
Because the fee is set by regulation, not by the notary. It is a fixed fee prescribed by law, and a notary may not charge more than it. He may waive all or part of the fee in the cases set out in the regulations, but may not increase it.
Do the fees include VAT?
No. VAT is added, as required by law, to every amount in the tables.
How much does a certified translation of a document cost?
The fee depends on the number of words in the translation: NIS 251 for the first 100 words, NIS 197 for each further 100 words up to 1,000 words, and NIS 99 for each further 100 words above 1,000. The Certified Translation page has a calculator that works this out automatically.
How much does an additional copy of the same certificate cost?
Far less than the first certificate. An additional copy of a translation certificate or an affidavit costs NIS 77, of a will NIS 88, and of a prenuptial agreement NIS 74. It is therefore worth asking in advance for all the copies you will need, at the same time.
When is the tariff updated?
On 1 January each year, in line with the rise in the Consumer Price Index published in the preceding November. The amounts on this page are updated for 2026.
What is the difference between a notarial certificate and an apostille?
The notarial certificate authenticates the document itself, the signature on it or the correctness of its translation. An apostille is a separate certificate, issued by a court or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirming to foreign countries that the notary who signed is indeed a duly licensed notary in Israel. Some countries require both. The apostille fee is not part of these regulations and is charged by the authority that issues it.
Can I receive the service outside the office?
Yes, at your express request. In that case an hourly fee is added, as set out in the table of surcharges, together with travel expenses. For certified translations this is usually unnecessary, because the work can be done remotely.
