What a notary does, and when a notarial certificate is required
A notary is an advocate licensed by the Ministry of Justice to authenticate, certify and draw up legal documents. A notarial certificate carries special evidential weight: authorities and courts in Israel and abroad accept it as evidence of the truth of its contents, without further proof. A notarial certificate is therefore required in almost every case where an Israeli document is to be used before an official body, and particularly before bodies outside Israel.
One point worth knowing: notary fees are not negotiable. They are fixed by the Notaries (Service Fees) Regulations, 5739-1978, and adjusted on 1 January each year. Every notary in Israel charges the same fee for the same notarial act, so the difference between one notary and another lies not in the price but in availability, speed and the quality of the work.
Notarial services provided by the office
Authentication of signatures on documents, certification of the correctness of translations from Hebrew into English and from English into Hebrew, certified true copies, notarial powers of attorney and continuing powers of attorney, wills made before an authority, certification of prenuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements, and affidavits and declarations.
Full details of each service are on the Services page, and the fees are on the Fees page.
Certified translation, Hebrew and English
Certification of the correctness of a translation is the service most in demand at the office. It is required for almost every Israeli document submitted to a body abroad, such as a birth certificate, a marriage certificate, a Population Registry extract, a police clearance certificate, a matriculation certificate or company documents, and for every foreign document submitted to an Israeli authority. The office has a dedicated page for this service, with a calculator that works out the fee by the number of words in the document and a form for sending a scan to receive a quotation and a delivery date. See Certified Translation.
Areas of legal practice
Alongside its notarial services, the office practises civil law in a range of fields, with an emphasis on real estate, construction defects and civil litigation. This combination has practical value for the client: someone who comes for a notarial certificate on a real estate document meets an advocate who knows the field itself in depth, not only the notarial procedure.
How we work
The office is committed to personal, prompt and efficient service, and to providing each client with a complete, professional solution. Certified translation services can be handled remotely from anywhere in Israel: send a scan of the document by WhatsApp or email, receive a word count, a fee and a delivery date, and the signed certificate is sent back to you. For services that require attendance in person, such as authentication of a signature or a will made before an authority, an appointment is made in advance to keep waiting to a minimum.
Service area
The office provides notarial services to clients from Ness Ziona and all the nearby localities: Rehovot, Rishon LeZion, Be'er Ya'akov, Ramla, Lod, Yavne, Kiryat Ekron, Mazkeret Batya, Gedera, Beit Dagan, Azor, Or Yehuda, Holon and Bat Yam, as well as the communities of the Gan Raveh, Brenner and Hevel Yavne regional councils. Many of the services, above all certified translation, are available online without coming to the office.
What does a notary cost?
Notary fees are fixed by regulation and are not negotiable, so every notary in Israel charges the same fee for the same notarial act. Related legal services, such as drafting the document, are not part of the notary fee. The Fees page sets out the complete notary tariff for 2026, together with a notary fee calculator that works out the actual cost from the details of your case, including the number of signatories, additional copies, service outside the office and the out-of-hours surcharge.
