Certified Translation of Bank Documents and Statements

Banks, investment firms and authorities abroad often ask for financial documents in English: a confirmation that an account is held, bank statements, a credit card statement, or a bill that proves your residential address. The certified translation confirms that the translation is faithful to the document issued to you.

When is a certified translation of bank documents and statements needed?

  • Opening a bank account abroad.
  • A mortgage or a real estate investment abroad.
  • Proof of source of funds and of residential address.
  • Visa applications that require proof of financial means.

Proof of address

An electricity, water or municipal tax (arnona) bill is often used abroad as proof of address. When the foreign body asks for it in English, the whole bill is translated, including the account details and the billing period.

Long documents

Bank statements and annual statements can be long. The translation fee is based on the number of words, so it is worth establishing in advance which pages are actually required and translating only those.

How it works

  1. Send the document

Send a scan or a clear photograph by WhatsApp or email, and receive a quote based on the word count.

  2. We translate and check the names

The translation must be faithful to the original document, and it is important to check the spelling of names against the passports, so that it matches the other documents.

  3. The notary certifies and signs

The notarial certificate is signed and bound together with the copy of the document and the translation.

  4. Apostille, if required

If the destination country is party to the Hague Convention, an apostille is added where required (please confirm this with the body requesting the document).

What it costs

The translation fee is based on the number of words in the translation, under the notarial tariff fixed by regulation, and it is the same at every notary in Israel. For an exact calculation by word count, see the certified translation fee calculator, and for the full tariff, the fees page.

The office translates from Hebrew into English and from English into Hebrew.

Questions and answers

Can just part of a document be translated?

Yes, if the body abroad agrees. In that case, the translation states which parts were not translated.

How long does it take?

A single document is usually ready within one business day, sometimes on the same day. If an apostille is required on the notarial certificate, it is obtained at the court, usually within one business day, by courier.

Need an apostille?

It depends on the destination country. In countries party to the Hague Convention, usually yes. It is best to confirm this with the body requesting the certificate.
