Certified notarial translation of academic certificates and transcripts

Educational institutions and licensing bodies abroad ask for academic certificates and transcripts in English, with a notarial certificate that the translation is true to the original. This applies to academic degrees, matriculation certificates (Bagrut), and certificates of courses and vocational training.

When a certified notarial translation of academic certificates and transcripts is required

  • Enrolment in academic studies abroad.
  • Recognition of a degree or professional licence in another country.
  • A work visa application that requires proof of education.
  • Professional certificates attached to a CV for use abroad.

A long transcript

A transcript sometimes lists dozens of courses, and the course names are the part that demands the greatest precision. The translation fee is calculated by the number of words, so a long transcript costs more than a one-page certificate. If the full transcript is not needed, it is worth checking in advance whether the certificate alone will suffice.

A certificate that already has an English version

Many institutions issue certificates directly in English. In that case what is usually needed is not a translation but a certified true copy. It is worth checking what the body abroad requires before ordering a translation.

How it works

  1. Send the document

Send a scan or a clear photograph by WhatsApp or email, and receive a quote based on the word count.

  2. We translate and check the names

The translation must be faithful to the original document, and it is important to check the spelling of names against the passports, so that it matches the other documents.

  3. The notary certifies and signs

The notarial certificate is signed and bound together with the copy of the document and the translation.

  4. Apostille, if required

If the destination country is party to the Hague Convention, an apostille is added where required (please confirm this with the body requesting the document).

What it costs

The translation fee is based on the number of words in the translation, under the notarial tariff fixed by regulation, and it is the same at every notary in Israel. For an exact calculation by word count, see the certified translation fee calculator, and for the full tariff, the fees page.

The office translates from Hebrew into English and from English into Hebrew.

Questions and answers

My certificate is already in English. Do I need a translation?

Usually not. If the body abroad asks for a certified copy, a certified true copy is sufficient.

How long does it take?

A single document is usually ready within one business day, sometimes on the same day. If an apostille is required on the notarial certificate, it is obtained at the court, usually within one business day, by courier.

Need an apostille?

It depends on the destination country. In countries party to the Hague Convention, usually yes. It is best to confirm this with the body requesting the certificate.
